Editorial Policy
How We Report, Edit and Publish.
The standards THE STUDENT CHAPTERS™ follows for the news, stories, opportunities and explainers published on this website.
Our purpose
THE STUDENT CHAPTERS™ (TSC) is a student and youth media platform. We publish news, student, startup and campus stories, career opportunities, current affairs editions, legal awareness explainers and podcasts for students and young people across India. Our aim is to be accurate, fair and useful to the people who read us.
How stories are sourced
Stories come from the TSC editorial team, campus contributors, member submissions (Share your story and Share campus news), announcements from institutions and organisations, and public records. Submissions are treated as tips: they are checked by an editor before anything is published.
How we verify
Before publishing, editors check names, dates, figures, quotes and claims against primary sources wherever possible: official notifications, institution websites, documents and the people involved. Opportunity listings are checked against the website or announcement of the organisation offering them. When a claim cannot be verified, we say so clearly or we do not publish it.
Editing and review
Every post is reviewed by an editor before it goes live. Editors check accuracy, clarity, headlines, images and attribution. Contributor pieces may be edited for length, style and clarity; their meaning is not changed without the agreement of the contributor.
Monthly current affairs
The monthly current affairs edition is prepared from official announcements and public records. Like every piece, it is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a member of the editorial team before it is published. We never invent quotes, sources, people or images presented as real.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team. Partnerships, sponsored posts and paid promotions are clearly identified as such and do not decide what we report or how we report it.
Authors and bylines
Each post carries the name of its author or of the TSC editorial team, together with its publish date and, when it changes, the date it was last updated. Author pages describe the role and background of each author and list their published work.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct it and note the correction with its date. Read how corrections work and how to request one in our Corrections Policy.
Questions
Questions about this policy, story tips and feedback can be sent to the editorial team through our contact page.
